Goose & Duck Grower/Finish vs Breeder Pellets: Which Feed?

Two feeds for two different stages

Allen & Page offers two waterfowl pellets that look similar in the bag but serve different purposes. Goose & Duck Grower/Finish supports steady growth from 3–5 weeks old through to finishing, while Goose & Duck Breeder is formulated for birds entering the breeding season. Choosing between them comes down to the age and reproductive status of your geese or ducks, not personal preference.

This comparison pulls only from the supplied product information. Where a detail is not listed—such as a full nutritional breakdown—we say so rather than guess.

Feeding stage and daily amounts

• Grower/Finish: Feed ad lib from 3–5 weeks old. The supplied guidance suggests about 170–200g per duck per day depending on size, or 125–150g for geese together with plenty of grass.
• Breeder: Feed ad lib from 6–8 weeks before breeding. No daily amount is given in the supplied information.

What each pellet is designed to do

Grower/Finish encourages a slower, more natural growth rate to finish. That makes it a fit for young birds you are raising to maturity, whether for meat or simply to develop steadily. Breeder is formulated for breeding birds and encourages natural egg production and fertility. It is not positioned as a growth feed, and the supplied information does not describe using it outside the breeding window.

Key features that matter for waterfowl

• Allen & Page Goose & Duck Grower/Finish 20kg: Drug free – does not contain coccidiostats or growth promoters. If you prefer to avoid medicated feed or growth promoters, this is a relevant point for growing birds.

• Allen & Page Goose & Duck Grower/Finish 20kg: With vitamins and minerals for a complete nutritionally balanced diet, and contains prebiotics to help support the digestive system. These features support the claim of a complete feed, though the full nutritional analysis is not supplied.
• Allen & Page Goose & Duck Breeder 20kg: Drug free – does not contain coccidiostats or growth promoters. The same drug-free formulation applies to the breeder feed, which may matter for breeding stock.

• Allen & Page Goose & Duck Breeder 20kg: Formulated for natural egg production and fertility, with vitamins and minerals for a complete nutritionally balanced diet, and contains prebiotics to help support digestive health. These are the core claims for breeding birds, though again the full analysis is not provided.

Switching feeds and feeding with water

Both products share the same transition advice: introduce a new feed gradually over 7 to 10 days to help a smooth change over. This matters when moving birds from Grower/Finish to Breeder as they approach breeding age. Both feeds should also be fed with ad lib fresh water. The supplied information does not give a specific water-to-feed ratio, so monitor your birds and adjust as needed.

What the records do not tell you

Neither product record includes a full nutritional breakdown, ingredient list, or a recommended daily amount for Breeder. The Grower/Finish daily amounts are given as a range and may vary with bird size and access to grass. If you need precise formulation details—such as protein or calcium levels—check the bag label or contact the manufacturer, as those details are not in the supplied information. This comparison is based solely on the available catalog data.
